A recent survey asked students how they feel about different classes. Other than dance, design, painting, theater, and band, computer science and computer programming came out on top. FAR ahead of other academic fields. Kudos to the teachers and organizations who are making computer science fun, creative, and relevant!
The full survey data is on slide 48 of this powerpoint, which is also copied below. Now that computing is the #1 source of all new wages, and it’s the class that students like the most, how come 75% of schools don’t teach it?!
P.S. this analysis is definitely impacted by selection bias. The optional courses are “liked” more because the students taking those courses proactively chose to take them. That said, the results are still surprising.
